SAG-AFTRA is donating $1 million to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist our members struggling to cope with the fires’ aftermath.

Dear Member,

The fires that have devastated communities throughout L.A. County have had a profound impact on the lives of many of our friends and colleagues who are members of SAG-AFTRA. As longtime residents of Los Angeles ourselves, we’ve personally been affected by the fires and feel deeply for others experiencing this tragedy. In addition to all of the first responders, we want to thank and recognize our broadcast journalist members who are out every day battling to bring this important news to the world.

Union members stand together  — and that’s never more true nor more important than in times of crisis. Whether it’s floods on the East Coast, hurricanes in the Southwest or fires in California — or strikes of our contracts — we’ve shown that the power of collective action, combined with empathy, is what sees us through the hard times.

That’s why we want to let you know that SAG-AFTRA is donating $1 million to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund to make sure the funds are immediately available to assist our members and to help those struggling to cope with the fires’ aftermath. We have also posted a list of resources on the Los Angeles Local webpage, and you can find those here

These are particularly stressful times. Stress compromises the immune system so we must be mindful of taking measures to support our health. We are hopeful that you and your loved ones stay safe. We will get through this, together.

In unity,
