A message from President Gabrielle Carteris

It is imperative that employers uphold all provisions in the contracts, including when per diem is paid.

Our contracts are the bedrock on which we build our careers. They ensure we are paid reasonable compensation, have safe workplaces, and that we get contributions to our pension and health plans. That’s why it’s so important that employers uphold all of the provisions in the contracts to which they have agreed.

Lately, I have been hearing that some employers are not properly paying per diems to members working under the SAG-AFTRA Theatrical and Television Agreements. If that’s happening to you, please let the union know and let’s hold them accountable.

I just want to remind members who work these contracts that producers must issue per diem checks to day performers before the start of each workday and to weekly performers before the start of each workweek.

If you have questions about a contract, answers can be found at sagaftra.org or by calling the union. If you are not receiving your per diems on time, please contact the union at paymyperdiem@sagaftra.org where you can confidentially report per diem violations.

Strength in unity,

Gabrielle Carteris
SAG-AFTRA President
