Fellow SAG-AFTRA Colorado Local Member,
As we reflect on our past events and accomplishments, I am filled with pride and optimism for our SAG-AFTRA Colorado community. Our recent gatherings have not only strengthened our bonds as colleagues but also highlighted the incredible talent and dedication within our ranks. The state of our union is strong, and together we have made significant strides in advocating for our industry. Let's continue to build on this momentum and look forward to even greater achievements in the coming year.
A few updates:

Our first SAG-AFTRA Actors Hours was a fantastic success, bringing together our vibrant community of Colorado members for an evening of connection and camaraderie. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with fellow actors, share experiences and strengthen our union spirit. Events like the Actors Hours are essential for fostering solidarity and building a supportive network.
A huge thanks to all our Colorado members who came out and shared some fun with our SAG-AFTRA family! We’re excited for the next gathering and look forward to even more memorable moments together. Stay tuned for future Actors Hours events.
Kudos to Denver Film for another hugely successful film festival! SAG-AFTRA was honored to have co-sponsored the Colorado Filmmaker party. The party was a blast and it was great to see so many fellow union members in attendance. The relationships our union has forged with the festival and others like it in the local community are so vital to our ongoing efforts, and we thank all the content creators, actors and industry professionals who participated.
Heads up! The TV/Theatrical 500-mile travel time waiver will be eliminated on Jan. 1, 2025. This change does not impact your ability to work in other markets (including neighboring New Mexico) that are within a 500-mile radius of where the production is based, it just means productions will no longer be able to "waive" travel time on the days when performers travel and no other work is performed. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, but we’ll also be discussing this in greater detail at our annual membership meeting. Speaking of which …
Join us for this year’s membership meeting and holiday party. These holiday meetings are always a delightful blend of fun and information, offering a perfect opportunity to celebrate the season and connect with fellow members. These events are not only enjoyable, but also provide valuable updates and insights into our union’s activities. Save the date and keep an eye out for details on our upcoming membership meeting and holiday mixer scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9. This year's event promises to be one you won’t want to miss!
We've noticed an uptick in potential casting scams in our area and need your help to ensure no one falls prey to them. Remember, performers should never be asked to pay money to audition or work, and you should NEVER front money with the promise of reimbursement. Always verify a production’s signatory status before starting any work. Please stay diligent and protect yourself and your craft. If you encounter anything suspicious, report it immediately. Your safety and well-being are our top priority.
Engaging with your union is essential. It empowers us to advocate for our rights, enhance working conditions and ensure our voices are heard. I encourage you to get more involved locally — attend meetings, participate in sponsored events or join a committee. Together, we strengthen our union.
Cheers!
Sonny G.
