Hello 2024!
I hope you enjoyed your holiday season, spending time with your family and friends, resting, recuperating and rejuvenating from all of the ups and downs of 2023.
Last year was full of so many things! So many emotions, ranging from exasperation to frustration and, finally, elation!
We went through the wages and working conditions process, legislative lobbying — where we landed a historic $200 million budget for our film incentives — a writers strike, followed by our strike, then elections, some of us attended a convention, which was then postponed, and from rumors of contract resolution to the contract resolution, to uncertainty about the ratification of the contract resolution. Phew! It was nothing short of exhausting, but we made it. We made it to the other side! We have a contract and auditions and work is starting to pick up. I hope you’re ready! I hope you took the downtime to update your materials, talk to your reps and address any mental health concerns so that you’re ready to tackle the new year that is upon us.
We had a very successful 2023 local membership meeting, with some amazing guests! Thank you again to L.A. actor and now Dallas transplant Cedric Sanders, Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture Executive Director Meg Gould, and our very own Chief Contracts Officer Ray Rodriguez for coming to speak to our members.
Looking forward to an amazing 2024! We’re kicking down the door in 2024 (yeah, it’s corny, but you know me)!
