It’s no secret that 2020 has felt like a rollercoaster of constant challenges. All of us have been impacted one way or another, and dealing with change is something we just keep learning how to do.
But that doesn’t make it easy: and it is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of our beloved local executive director, Trish Avery.
For those who don’t know, Trish was a local member (and former local president) for many years before she set her acting career aside and stepped into the shoes of executive director for Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. For over a decade, she has labored on our behalf as the face of our local, working with producers, agents and casting directors and more to keep us always moving forward. Her tireless advocacy for our members and our local industry has set a gold standard for SAG-AFTRA.
I’m not going to lie: on a selfish level, this really stings. To say we’ve come to rely on Trish’s never-ending positivity, experience and steady leadership would be the understatement of the year (even this one!). Her insight and clarity of purpose have been invaluable, precisely because she was, is, and always will be one of us.
While I’m sad to see Trish retire, I’m truly excited to welcome her back as a fellow member as she rejoins our ranks and opens the door to many new and exciting opportunities. If change has become the one constant in our lives, I can think of no one better to conquer that rollercoaster than the incomparable Trish Avery, our fellow SAG-AFTRA member!
From the bottom of our hearts, thanks for everything. And welcome back, my friend…

A message from Trish Avery:
Dear Members and Friends,
It is rare to find the thing that encompasses one’s passion while providing the opportunity to spread wings and create in ways unimaginable. Such has been my pleasure in serving as your Executive Director for more than thirteen years. Yet, nothing is forever. Now, it is time for me to turn the page and start a new chapter. I am retiring as your executive director at the end of this year.
It has been a true honor to work with so many talented performers and staff. I am deeply indebted to the local boards for their visionary leadership, our many committees for their tireless, hard work, and our dedicated staff for their endless support.
With gratitude,
Trish
