Greetings and salutations from the SAG-AFTRA Houston-Austin Local and your new local president. After completing the local elections, we’ve got some newbies and returning Board members, but we’re all fired up to help make our acting and movie dreams come true!
The 2023 national convention is just around the corner, and the Houston-Austin Local delegates are excited to join our brothers and sisters from around the country, as we come up with new ideas and plans for our union’s future.
We’re always looking for members to engage at the local level. If you’d like to get more involved and are willing to serve your local union, send a note to myself or Tom Schwarz, our excellent executive director. I have been a member of numerous committees throughout the years, and it has been fun to get to know our fellow members and do some important work for our union.
I just finished a meeting with SAG-AFTRA local union presidents from all over the United States, and it was very fruitful! We brainstormed ideas about strike engagement and how we can make some important progress.
