Happy Spring!
May ushers in Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, as we recognize the outstanding contributions and rich heritage of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders that have influenced the history and culture in the United States. Yay, Yo, shaka ‘bro!
Thursday, May 5 is Cinco de Mayo and also the last day for eligible members to cast your ballot for the Commercial Contracts!
The television and advertising industry has changed in the last 10 years. Many of us have cut the cord and stream the content we want, when we want it, often on ad-free platforms. Fewer dollars are spent in linear advertising, and more is shifting into digital.
This turning point in our industry is why bold moves and structural changes are needed to ensure members are positioned to take advantage of the opportunities in this new frontier. And I know our Commercials Negotiating team worked very hard to bring you the gains that are in these contracts.
If you did not participate in any of the Commercials Contracts town halls, I encourage you to review the referendum booklet and FAQs, or check out this podcast episode to make an informed decision.
So, eligible voters, don’t forget to vote by 5 p.m. PDT, this Thursday, May 5, at ivsballot.com/commercials2022. Postcards with voting instructions were mailed on April 14 to eligible voters. Use the PIN from your postcard to vote or retrieve your PIN from the voting website.
May 8 celebrates Buddha’s birthday, whether you are a believer or not, say a prayer in gratitude for enlightened spirits who have raised and will continue to raise the consciousness on Mother Earth, our planet.
May 31, Memorial Day, honoring all our brave soldiers who have died helping to keep our shores safe and uphold our democracy. Say a prayer for them and the people of Ukraine, too.
