Fellow SAG-AFTRA SF-NorCal Board, Committee Members and Friends, it is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you of the passing of our dear comrade Charlie Holliday.
As you know, Charlie was not only a talented, experienced member, but also an upstanding unionist. He served his unions, SAG, AFTRA and SAG-AFTRA, with dedication and integrity for many decades. He was a friend to many, a staunch representative of the Sacramento community and a mentor to established and fledging actors alike.
Just nine days ago I received this text message from him: "It's Charlie. Give me a call when you can. Important.” He wanted to tell me that he was too sick to attend the SAG-AFTRA Convention and it “Broke his heart” to miss it.
Charlie served on our Local Board and on numerous Local and National Committees for decades. As long as I can remember, Charlie has been there in the trenches, fighting for us and for the labor movement.
I will miss him dearly, as will many in the San Francisco-Northern California Local. Information about a memorial will follow.
Peace to all,
Kathryn Howell
San Francisco-Northern California Local President
