New Orleans SAG-AFTRA Members!
Post-tentative agreement, we held our New Orleans Local membership meeting on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the IATSE hall, with nearly 100 members in attendance. Thank you for coming out!
Our special guests were casting directors Liz Coulon, Brent Caballero, Ryan Glorioso and Meagan Lewis. They spoke for an hour, answering questions from members. They mentioned they are all planning to return to in-person auditions to one degree or another!
After they left, we began our membership meeting. I gave a report, followed by our National Board member, Diana Boylston, and Director of Locals Administration Lisha Brock. Then there was a Q&A from the general membership. At the end of the meeting, we had door prize drawings, champagne and a cake in celebration of the end of the strike!
In addition, we announced the creation of a new outreach activity in Baton Rouge, the Red Stick Connection, with the first to be held on Dec. 17. If you’re in the Baton Rouge area, please attend!
In the coming year, we plan to host many meetings, including a membership drive to encourage eligible performers to join and another meeting to educate and encourage local filmmakers to shoot their projects union. Watch for announcements after the new year, and spread the word among your non-union friends!
Finally, the Board and I wish you all a happy, joyous and blessed holiday season! May 2024 surpass our wildest expectations!
