Dear L.A. Local Members,
Due to the danger of the fires throughout Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles office of SAG-AFTRA is closed today and will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 10. SAG-AFTRA staff will continue to serve member needs remotely. The office will reopen on Monday, Jan. 13, unless otherwise notified.
My heart goes out to each and every one of you who have been impacted by these devastating wildfires. In moments like these, words often feel insufficient, but please know that I, along with our entire union family, am deeply saddened by the loss and hardship many of you and your loved ones are facing right now.
As your L.A. Local president, and on behalf of your L.A. Local officers Sheryl Lee Ralph and David Jolliffe, I want you to know that you are not alone in this. We understand the toll that this disaster is taking on so many, and we are committed to helping you through this tough time in every way we can.
To help ease the burden, we’ve compiled some resources that might offer some relief during this challenging time:
If you are in need of specific assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our L.A. Local team who continue to work on your behalf during these trying times at la@sagaftra.org.
If you are looking for ways to help during this time of crisis, your assistance is appreciated. You can find a list of ways to volunteer, donate and support near the bottom of our list of wildfire resources.
The road to recovery may feel overwhelming, but I want you to remember that you are part of a strong, compassionate community. We are in this together.
Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. We are thinking of you, and we are here for you every step of the way.
Moving forward together, all good things.
Jodi Long
Los Angeles Local President
