A Message from New York Local President Mike Hodge

Dear New York Local Members:

In this climate of new platforms and varying ways in which our work is being displayed, many members have been asking how we are going to deal with it. A strong first step would be for every member who does this work to attend our upcoming seminar entitled Landscape of Scripted Dramatic Entertainment.

Our TV/Theatrical contract expires June 30, 2017, and we are making this “Landscape” presentation so that we can all better understand the business as it is today and possibly how it will be tomorrow, with the goal of being totally prepared to ask for what we need in the upcoming negotiation. I am asking you to show up on Thursday, Aug. 11, at your SAG-AFTRA offices at 1900 Broadway, 5th floor. The seminar is scheduled from 6-8 p.m.

We are encouraging attendance at this seminar, as well as at the W&W caucuses that will be held later for specific stakeholder groups. If there are issues that are not covered in your stakeholder session, or if you have broader concerns, please feel free to attend the general W&Ws, the dates of which will be announced later as well. I hope to see you at the New York office on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. for this important first meeting.
