Commercials W&W and assistance for COVID-related financial hardships.
Member involvement is one of our greatest assets, and an important opportunity has just begun. The SAG-AFTRA New York Local is conducting Wages & Working Conditions meetings in preparation for the 2022 SAG-AFTRA Commercials contracts negotiations. The Commercials contracts expire March 31, 2022. Proposals for this negotiation are developed through the involvement of members like you. If you work this contract, I encourage you to make your voice heard and participate in this very important process. Click here for details and to RSVP.
As we begin a new dues billing cycle, I am pleased to report that the SAG-AFTRA Executive Committee has once-again approved a COVID-19 dues relief extension for November 2021 dues. Members experiencing COVID-19-related financial hardship can request and will be granted a due date extension and an installment plan on or before Dec. 10, 2021. Click here for details.
There is also help available for New York State residents struggling to pay their rent. A moratorium on COVID-related residential and commercial evictions for New York State is in effect until January 15, 2022. Under the new law, all protections of the Tenant Safe Harbor Act for residential tenants who are suffering financial hardship as a result of the pandemic will remain in place, along with new protections on commercial evictions. You can read the new law on the New York State Senate’s website.
There are additional eviction protections available to NYC Tenants. Up-to-date information and resources are available on NYC’s 311 portal and NYC Human Resources website for renters at risk of eviction or entering shelter.
Forward together,
Ezra Knight
