A Message from the Portland and Seattle Presidents

As you may have heard, SAG-AFTRA recently made decisions regarding the organization’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and our operations across the country. The intention is to successfully manage the institution during a challenging time when typical revenues are significantly down due to a decrease in production and member earnings levels. We write today to apprise you of the impact these changes have had on the Seattle and Portland locals. 

You may remember that we had initiated an active search for an executive director. However, due to COVID-19 reductions, we felt we should postpone that process. We now announce the addition of two experienced, dedicated executives who will serve the membership in interim capacities, effective immediately: Sean Taylor and Maureen O’Brien. Sean’s experience as the San Francisco-Northern California Local executive director, and a former national staffer for the Actors’ Equity Association and AFTRA, position him to be a valuable asset to the leaders and membership of our locals. Sean is a versed negotiator of hundreds of collective bargaining agreements and his background covers all of our contract areas. Maureen, who will be providing membership assistance, is familiar with all aspects of member services from her executive level work with the Missouri Valley Local.

Both individuals are excited to learn about the needs of Seattle and Portland members, and to bring their expertise to this area through their passion, advocacy and service. They join Senior Business Representative Chris Comte to comprise a team that’s focused on your interests.
