My Friends,
It has been an honor and a privilege to have served as a member of both legacy unions since 2003, as well as in my most recent role as the president of the SAG-AFTRA Dallas-Fort Worth Local. But the time has come for me to step down, and I am very excited that Ms. Nikki Dixon, our 1st vice president, will be stepping up to take my place as president, with Nicole Hodges taking over Nikki’s position as 1st VP.
Nikki came to our board post-merger, with new ideas and a fresh perspective on the ever-changing landscape of our industry and our market. Starting as a Local Board member, and then moving into the position of 1st vice president, Nikki has steadily grown into an exceptional leader, recognized both locally and nationally. Her passion for our Local and her drive to succeed make her the perfect choice to fill this role. I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her as our local president.
Nicole Hodges hit the ground running as a DFW Local Board member and hasn’t looked back since. Her enthusiasm and energy appear to be limitless, and, more importantly, very contagious! Her involvement on multiple local and national committees keeps growing and she has embraced her role as a union leader with an inspiring level of pride. For these reasons, the DFW Local Board is very happy to announce Nicole’s appointment as our new 1st vice president.
My time working as your local president over the years has created countless new friendships and strengthened many old ones. It’s absolutely amazing how hard our board member volunteers work on our behalf, purely out of love for this Local and its members. From the early fight to save our local AFTRA office to the years-long push for the merger of SAG and AFTRA, I’ve witnessed some amazing accomplishments by your local leaders over the past two decades.
I am honored to have stood next to each and every one of them on this journey, and I look forward to where we all go from here.
