Our SAG-AFTRA convention took place this year virtually via Zoom on Oct 15–18, bringing together union members and leaders from all around the United States.
Our Hawaii convention delegation included myself, Hawaii National Board member Henry Ian Cusick, Hawaii Local Board members Lisa Romano and Deb Glazier, and local convention delegates Pat Gilbert and Patrick Jeppeson. (See photos of the members of the Hawaii Local delegation that were in attendance.)
Our SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher welcomed all delegates and encouraged everyone to rise up in unison to usher in an exciting new era for our union. President Drescher urged us to face the challenges ahead with a united front to achieve "stronger contracts, better benefits and safe working conditions" with "kindness and compassion as our compass."
Over the four days of meetings, members were elected to union leadership positions; resolutions were heard, reviewed and voted upon by the delegation; and local presidents and National Board members met together to undertake the business of our union.
Thank you to all of our Hawaii delegates for volunteering their time and devoting their energy to representing our Hawaii Local at convention!
In unity,
Andrea Sikkink
Hawaii Local President
