A Message From Your Los Angeles Local President

I am so happy to report that Serena Kung has been promoted to Executive Director of the Los Angeles Local after serving as our Interim Executive Director since Ilyanne Kirchaven stepped down in March. Serena’s appointment was approved unanimously by the Los Angeles Local Board at our first official Local Board meeting on Oct 4. It was a good meeting as we introduced ourselves and welcomed the new board members you voted in! We even started with a little yogic breath work to get us all breathing together, which I think was a L.A. Local Board first. :)

This year’s convention yielded a lot of member-led resolutions for the National Board to consider and a new national officers group voted in by the 400 plus delegates at convention. If you want to have more of a say on those national officers next time, throw your hat into the ring to become a delegate! 

On another note, sincere condolences to the family of Director of Photography Halyna Hutchins for her needless death on the set of Rust, and a very sad reminder of the utmost importance of enforcement for all our onset protections.
