I hope you had a chance to attend one of the virtual #AdsGoUnion webinars that were held this month. Our commercials organizing team is working hard to build relationships in the industry and turn jobs union whenever they can. They shared some great action steps that we can all do to help the #AdsGoUnion campaign.
- Send any information you come across regarding non-union auditions to AdsGoUnion@sagaftra.org. This is super important for the team. It gives them market research and they can sometimes turn the job into union work for members.
- If you are active on social media, follow the SAG-AFTRA feeds and the hashtag #AdsGoUnion. Tweet about your commercial work proudly with #AdsGoUnion and thank the production team for using SAG-AFTRA talent.
- Spread the word about #AdsGoUnion with your colleagues and hold the line by never accepting work in non-union commercials. You can anonymously report if you spot violations by emailing adsgounion@sagaftra.org.
- If a producer reaches out to you about a non-union commercial, let us know. It's now easier than ever to bring uncovered work under a SAG-AFTRA contract through the Washington-Mid Atlantic Regional Commercials Code, which offers great rates, flexibility and simplified paperwork. Learn about the codes here and take an active step to organize your own work.
Please join me in wishing luck to the Commercials Contract negotiating team, as contract negotiations just began in New York. The goal is a new contract that helps us grow commercial work, adjusts to changes in the industry, offers strong protections and fairly compensates members.
Look for tweets supporting the team on social media with the hashtag #AdsGoUnion. And remember, we are stronger together. Your contributions to the #AdsGoUnion campaign can help make a difference.
All the best,
Kathryn Klvana
