Here's a look at what the Mississippi Committee for the New Orleans Local has been up to...
"We had plans to sponsor the Oxford Film Festival in March with networking events and a panel discussion (to be moderated by our own Dan Stearns) as well as holding a member-only event in Mississippi. Unfortunately, those plans and our lives were disrupted with COVID-19. The festival has since moved online and I hope you will take advantage of the screenings and programs it has to offer," reported Ritchie Montgomery, Mississippi Committee chair and New Orleans Local Board member-Mississippi.
In this interim period, committee members are staying connected to keep planning for the future and reaching out to members who want to get involved. If you’re interested in serving on the Mississippi Committee to help with events in Mississippi, please email neworleans@sagaftra.org with your name and member number putting “Mississippi” in the subject line.
"We also want to encourage SAG-AFTRA members to register in the Mississippi Crew & Resource Directory, administered by the Mississippi Film Office to let filmmakers and producers know you are ready and able to work in Mississippi," added Montgomery. "Mississippi offers cash rebates for productions in their Mississippi Motion Picture Incentive Program for both resident and non-resident cast. Mississippi residents qualify productions for a higher percentage rebate. When you register for the directory, select the category 'ACTING / CASTING / TALENT – Actor / Actress' and be sure to add your affiliation as 'SAG-AFTRA' and check the appropriate boxes regarding residency, etc."
Stay tuned for more to come in Mississippi!
