Another year, another opportunity for MOVE L.A. to give back to the community! Over 50 SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local members gathered at SAG-AFTRA Plaza on April 24 to learn about the Motion Picture Television Fund’s volunteer opportunities through the MOVE L.A. Senior Buddy Program. The program originated in 2009. MPTF brings entertainment industry professionals together with industry retirees and colleagues, young and old, to provide support to those in need while giving back to the community.

Either on its Woodland Hills retirement campus or out in the community, volunteers are paired with a fellow industry member to assist with daily activities, grocery shopping and computer tutoring. Too often, entertainment industry members can find themselves isolated due to medical issues, frailty or simply a lack of companionship. MOVE L.A. hosts this annual sponsorship event to organize and encourage union member participation, and this year saw the largest turnout in the event’s history. Through the program, union members can improve the lives of fellow industry professionals through phone calls, home visits, and various other forms of assistance, building bridges between generations.

MPTF is here for all of us. We All Play Our Part is an awareness campaign to educate industry members about MPTF’s services, which are available to everyone, no matter what they do or where they work. To learn more about the many ways you can engage, click here.
