Dear Member,
You may have heard that the community of music supervisors partnered with IATSE and formed a union with 75% support. These workers asked the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers) — the negotiating representative for the major studios in the film/TV industry — to recognize and begin bargaining with their union, but the AMPTP refused.
Music supervisors are responsible for curating, securing/negotiating licensing for, and coordinating the use or creation of recorded music in service of a director’s or showrunner’s vision and budget. In many cases they work closely with actors, especially on productions that involve actor-musicians’ onscreen musical performances.
Music supervisors specifically asked us to stand with them as they fight for what most other professions on set already have: fair compensation, safe working conditions, timely pay and union representation.
Can you take two minutes to sign their petition and share your support on social using #MusicSupervisorEquity and #SilentWithoutUs. Don’t forget to tag @MusicNeedsSupes on Twitter and @MusicNeedsSupervision on Instagram.
In solidarity,
