I attended two National Board meetings in January. The first, a special joint SAG and AFTRA board meeting, took place on January 22. We studied the merger plan and proposed constitution for two hours on our own then, for the next six hours, we were given the opportunity to ask questions, which were answered by members of the G1. The second meeting was our scheduled January 27 National Board meeting, where I spoke in FAVOR of the proposed merger. I also voted in favor of the merger, and it passed by an overwhelming majority.

My reasons for voting for merger include the sudden, huge increase in the number of AFTRA TV shows, the splitting of P&H contributions due to the amount of work divided between SAG & AFTRA, the unions fighting each other over jurisdiction, etc. I would also like to point out that the membership voted overwhelmingly for pro-merger officers in the last two elections. Also, the commissioned study on the effects of merger on P&H shows that union mergers have resulted in plans that are more cost efficient, more stable and have been in the best interests of the plans’ participants and beneficiaries (click here to read the study).

Get it direct from the horse’s mouth! Here is a link to the merger plan, proposed constitution and P&H study.

Don't take ANYONE'S word for it — including MINE! Learn the facts yourself. Read the documents. Ask questions. But get the facts and then make up your own mind. I'm confident you will see what I see.

It is a historic time for our union. Be a part of it. Vote YES on the merger and tell your friends to vote YES too. Let's pass this by a big super-majority and send producers a clear message that actors are unified in our demands for fair wages and working conditions. United we stand, divided we will surely fall.

In solidarity,
Scott Rogers
