The Nevada Local Board has been busy creating and building relationships within our industry. Whether it’s educating producers on our Nevada Regional Commercials Code Contract or Low Budget Digital Waiver, SAG-AFTRA continues to address ways in which producers, casting directors and others can employ professional talent. Over the past several years, the Nevada Film Office has proven to be a valuable partner. We look forward to working with them to create opportunities that showcase local talent.

In June, we held the first of two annual membership meetings. Among the familiar faces were many new faces, including those who had just joined or transferred in from another local. Special guests Cedric Jackson and Donna Reed, SAG-AFTRA staff members, educated members on the TV/Theatrical contract and workplace safety.

Whether the information is presented in person or through other avenues, there are many ways to continue to educate yourself regarding your craft and union. If you haven’t already, join the Nevada Conservatory. For $40 a year, you have access to workshops featuring seasoned industry professionals from Nevada and Los Angeles. Be on the lookout for notices regarding upcoming workshops.

We’ve recently posted on the local’s webpage the article Reasons to Study Acting, which further emphasizes the importance of preparation and being a lifelong student of the craft.

If you haven’t already, check out the new SAG-AFTRA website. There you will find information about the Nevada Local, national news, contracts and much more.

With all the positive changes happening, it is a great time to be a member of SAG-AFTRA!

In solidarity,
Kim Renee
Nevada Local President
