The New England Local held a get-out-of-your-seat dance and movement workshop at the Boston Center of Adult Education on Feb. 25. SAG-AFTRA member and FreEMotion/LibreEMoción Repertory Company cofounder Dan Marshall led the evening workshop. Joining Marshall were members and performers from the films Joy (2015) and The Finest Hours (2016), Shira Price, Kate Jurdi and Kristen Annese.

Instructors guided participants of all skill levels through the universal elements of partner, solo and group dancing specifically for film and television. Many styles and forms of dance were covered, including disco, funk, swing and salsa, with focus given to poise, character and presentation. Other subjects covered included footwork and partnering techniques, body movement and styling, isolations and combinations. It was a fun, active night for all.
