The SAG-AFTRA New England Local kicked off 2024 with a new member orientation on Feb. 15 at the office in Boston. A mix of recently joined and more seasoned members enjoyed pizza, education and some takeaway tips. The agenda covered the union’s history, national and local governance, membership, contracts and safety, member benefits, and how New England Local members can engage with the union more actively.

The orientation concluded with a lengthy Q&A session. New England Local member Jason Barbieri summed it up with their comment, “It was an informative orientation. I enjoyed meeting with staff and other members and appreciated the level of detail in the presentation.”

The program was presented by SAG-AFTRA National Board member Bill Mootos; SAG-AFTRA National Vice President, Mid-Sized Locals Michele Proude; New England Local member Daniel Washington; SAG-AFTRA Senior Program Manager, Membership and Local Administration Ellen Stoolmacher; and SAG-AFTRA Senior Business Representative Benjamin Winthrop Shallop.
