On Feb. 23, 2025, members of the New England Local gathered with friends and industry partners to celebrate the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® at the iconic Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Massachusetts. Nearly 200 partygoers mingled, sipped drinks and snacked on cupcakes and popcorn as they enjoyed the livestreamed show on the big screen.
The event was organized by the 20-member New England Local SAG Awards Committee, chaired by Ted Garland, who ensured everything ran smoothly with their dedicated efforts onsite. The theater’s first-floor lobby was transformed with a balloon-arched red carpet, while the balcony lobby featured an additional 30-foot-long red carpet, complete with a SAG Awards® step-and-repeat backdrop. Inside the main theater, the committee set up a stylish and vibrant cupcake display and a festive raffle area where lucky winners took home SAG-AFTRA swag bags throughout the evening. A special “in memoriam” poster honoring local members who were lost over the past year was also displayed in the balcony lobby.
Opened in 1914, the historic Somerville Theatre provided the perfect setting for the celebration, with its exceptional projection capabilities and union projectionists. The staff was a pleasure to work with, and the beautifully preserved venue added a timeless charm to the event.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and made the New England Local SAG Awards viewing party a night to remember!
