Happy Spring, SAG-AFTRA Members,

Fortunately, it has been a busy spring for filming and broadcasting in New England. It looks as if it will continue into the summer. The safe return to work has been welcomed by many members. Our regional codes have spurred on more work for members in commercials as well as corporate and educational videos. It’s been exciting to see members embrace the Micro-Budget Project Agreement and create their own films and web series and see them cast in various projects.

Thank you to Massachusetts members who have been emailing, calling and writing their state senators and representatives regarding the need to eliminate the sunset clause on the Massachusetts film tax incentives. Maine residents are working hard on their film tax incentives, and members are contacting their representatives to make certain it happens. Please continue to encourage friends, family and colleagues to contact their state representatives, as film tax incentives are important for work opportunities for us.

Naturally, we are all looking toward the day when we can say “goodbye” to COVID-19. Until that day, we are continuing to follow the Safe Way Forward guidelines as well as the CDC and state guidelines to stay healthy. There will continue to be updates as new information emerges. Please remember to report anything that is unsafe and take all safety precautions seriously.

I look forward to the day that we can all meet regularly in person again. May next year bring back face-to-face, in person membership meetings.

Let’s hope we all work the jobs that we love.

Sincerely,

Andrea Lyman
SAG-AFTRA New England Local President
