In the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity, the New Orleans Local Stunt Committee hosted a get-together at Wrong Iron on May 11 for the local stunt community, Local Board and union staff.
Members were encouraged to register for this social event to come enjoy a complimentary beverage as well as meet staff and Local Board members. Staff in attendance were Director of Locals Administration Lisha Brock and National Director of Stunts & Safety Pat Perez.
It was a beautiful day with a nice breeze, just after Jazz-fest, and right before the TRUE New Orleans heat would start! New stunt performers, as well as seasoned ones came together to enjoy not only the incredible day, but each other's company.
As a new member of SAG-AFTRA and the New Orleans stunt community, Cassidy Burg stated, "The stunt social was great for me as a new performer because it allowed me to meet and get to know a lot of local performers and stunt coordinators. They each had unique experiences with the business that gave me new perspectives to consider."
New Orleans Local Stunt Committee Chair Sean P. Braud explained, "With the most recent strike and COVID protocols prior to that, many of us haven't had an opportunity to see each other on a large scale; this was such a great time for coming together and just being together again … I was beyond elated at the turnout!"
From beginning to end, stunt performers mingled, met new people and made lasting contacts. The NOLA Local Stunt Committee thanks all of the members who joined in, and a special thanks to staff for traveling in and helping to make the day amazing! We look forward to more gatherings to come in the future!
