On May 13, SAG-AFTRA New York Local members gathered at the DGA Theater in Manhattan for their annual membership meeting.
New York Local President Ezra Knight and Chief Labor Policy Officer and New York Executive Director Rebecca Damon gave reports on the many achievements and events of the last year. Their reports covered many topics, including the historic TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike and resulting groundbreaking contract, local legislative gains and the union’s latest strides in diversity, equity and inclusion. SAG-AFTRA National Executive Vice President and New York Local Vice President Linda Powell, and New York Local Vice Presidents Jim Kerr and Liz Zazzi also presided over the meeting.
Every year at the membership meeting, the prestigious Joseph C. Riley Award is presented to a member for their outstanding contributions to their union through local committee service. Congratulations to this year’s honoree, Jeffrey Spurgeon, who was honored for his longtime service on the New York Communications Committee.
Following the presentations was a Q&A.
