Broadcasters representing SAG-AFTRA shops in Seattle and Portland walked away with a number of regional trophies at the annual Radio Television Digital News Association Edward R. Murrow Awards. The winners were announced in May.
Seattle television station KING-TV took home six awards in the Region 1 (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington) Large Market Television category, including Overall Excellence, Digital Reporting, Excellence in Video, Investigative Reporting, New Series and Podcast. Portland sister station KGW-TV was selected for Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Excellence in Innovation and Hard News.
Seattle’s KOMO-TV also garnered awards for Excellence in Writing, Feature Reporting, News Documentary and Sports Reporting.
On the Large Market Radio side, KNKX-FM was recognized in the categories of Overall Excellence, Excellence in Innovation, Investigative Reporting, News Documentary and Podcast, while station KUOW-FM received awards for Digital Reporting, News Series, and Excellence in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
Regional recipients move forward to compete for the National Edward R. Murrow Awards in their selected categories.
The Radio Television Digital News Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism.
