The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement presented Filming from Home for a Netflix Pandemic Anthology on Nov. 10. Hosted by President Gabrielle Carteris, the livestream was a conversation with actors and husband and wife Dylan (Hunters) and Becky Ann Baker (Girls) with actor Linda Powell (Madam Secretary) moderating.

During the livestream, the Bakers discussed their at-home film shoot for “Humane Animal Trap,” an episode from Netflix’s eight-part dramedy Social Distance, which involves performers filming from their own homes. They go into detail about their hands-on involvement with production on location, maintaining social distancing practices and finding the balance between the technical and performative aspects of their work.

“We would run lines all morning just to be confident that we were there. The rest of the job we were getting the set ready,” said Becky Ann Baker. “By the time we got out, there would be tripods [with] iPhones facing this way and [that way]. “It was fascinating, but it was exhausting because you could concentrate on everything [involving production] and then you had to sit down and try to remember the scene and what you were going to [perform].”
