Did you know that services of the Entertainment Community Fund are available nationwide? Founded in 1882, the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund) helps address the specific needs of performing arts and entertainment professionals — with a unique understanding of the challenges involved with a life in the arts and the knowledge of what it takes to thrive in an often-unpredictable industry.
With a focus on health and wellness, career, life and housing, the Fund offers a broad range of services and programs designed to support the needs of those who work in film, theater, television, music, opera, radio and dance — all free of charge.
Created with the intention to provide support and share information, resources and skills, the Fund shines a spotlight on the programs and services available to the members of SAG-AFTRA.
Health and Wellness
When faced with personal stress, anxiety, depression or life transitions, actors can turn to the Fund for confidential support, including help determining mental health needs, short-term supportive counseling, referrals to ongoing care and guidance on understanding insurance coverage.
Career Center
The Fund’s Career Center offers a holistic approach to supporting performing arts and entertainment professionals through a comprehensive suite of workshops, counseling and programs to help you develop and manage your career. Whether seeking additional streams of income to support industry work or exploring new career opportunities, the Career Center is here to help every step of the way.
Financial Wellness
For those interested in exploring the role of money in their lives, the Financial Wellness program can engage, educate and empower individuals about building financial stability. Members are invited to participate in single-session workshops covering topics from the basics of investing to managing debt, multi-session series exploring budgeting skills, and groups providing support and accountability to those working to achieve personal financial goals.
Housing
The Fund operates two residences in California: The Hollywood Arts Collective and The Palm View. Offering online workshops on housing for seniors in L.A., the Fund is committed to providing information and assistance to members of the community seeking affordable housing and practical information on how to get organized and apply.
For those interested in finding rentals, sublets or roommates, the Housing Board provides a space to share housing opportunities and find rentals, and when in need of information on subjects ranging from tenants’ rights to mortgages and homeownership, The Housing Resource Center is a place to turn for curated resources on a wide variety of housing-related topics.
The Entertainment Community Fund exists, as it always has, to be there for those who work in the community. Members of SAG-AFTRA can count on the Fund as a safety net and place to turn for guidance and support.
