Join Jane Kaczmarek, Sean Astin, Benicio Del Toro, Jenna Elfman, Elijah Wood, Amanda Bynes, Elliott Gould, Dan Castellaneta, Ed Asner, Barbara Bain, Mimi Kennedy and thousands more by introducing children to the wonderful world of reading and literacy.
BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), which operates under the auspices of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, is one of the fastest growing literacy programs in the country. BookPALS was founded on a clear premise: Children must be exposed to the magic of books so they can develop a love of reading. Who better to make that magic come alive than you, an actor gifted in the art of storytelling?
Founded by Barbara Bain (Mission Impossible) in Los Angeles in 1993, BookPALS now proudly claims 15 chapters throughout the country. Nationally, BOOKPALS’ 2,000 dedicated volunteers serve more than 100,000 preschool to 5th grade students weekly by reading aloud at public schools, museums, cultural institutions, literacy fairs, on the phone and online. Do you have an hour a week? Do you want to share your talents with children across the United States? We want you!
