Dear Member,
The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local lost one of its brightest lights today with the passing of our former SAG Chicago Branch President Todd Hissong.
Todd was a trailblazer, a pioneer and leader for the union, and his 20-plus years of dedicated service will be felt forever, nationwide.
Not only did he serve as the Chicago Branch President and National Board member for six years, but he also worked on various national and local committees. He was a constant advocate for performers in Chicago and he took an active role in the wider Chicago labor community.
Todd's multi-faceted career spanned films, commercials, audiobooks and theater, which allowed him to keep his finger on the pulse of the industry. He knew firsthand what problems or issues faced his fellow union performers, and he worked tirelessly to make all of our lives better.
Todd once said in an interview that as Chicago Branch President, he was able to “help ensure members issues [are] out in front and get members to realize that they are part of the labor movement. We speak with one voice, instead of many.”
We will remember Todd’s generosity of spirit, passion for the betterment of members, his love of performing and his one-of-a-kind sense of humor.
Here at the Chicago Local, we consider ourselves one big family. On behalf of that family, we send our most heartfelt condolences to the love of his life – his wife PJ – and their family and friends.
In unity,
Charles Andrew Gardner
Chicago Local President
