SAG-AFTRA mourns the passing of Prince, a legendary artist whose life has ended far too soon.
SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris said: “It’s a huge and deeply felt loss to the music industry. Prince was a brilliant artist and a committed humanitarian who inspired an entire generation. We are grateful for the gift of his music and thankful that it will endure far into the future.”
Local President Bob Davis said about Prince, a longtime local member: “Music, the country and the world have lost a giant in his passing, but in Minnesota we have lost as well a neighbor, friend and colleague. All Minnesota artists have quietly taken pride in the fact that as his celebrity grew, he chose to keep his home here, as we have chosen. We will also miss those chance encounters around town: at the Dakota, or maybe the bowling alley in Chanhassen. Rest in Peace, Mr. Nelson.”
