Field service representatives are an integral part of SAG-AFTRA’s contract enforcement on set. Their work ensures that employers and productions comply with the collective bargaining agreements and quickly resolve issues and disputes.
The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement hosted The Role of Field Service Representatives on Nov. 1 featuring SAG-AFTRA Executive Director, Field Services Jim Damis.
Damis provided an overview of field representatives’ work and priorities on set. Covered topics included common safety concerns, meal and rest period disputes, and the steps representatives take to settle disputes between production and the union in real time. Also discussed was member advocacy and helpful steps members can take to ensure their safety in the absence of a representative.
