SAN FRANCISCO (October 13, 2016) – SAG-AFTRA today announced the hiring of Sean F. Taylor to head its San Francisco-Northern California Local office. As the local’s new executive director, Taylor will oversee the union’s day-to-day business in Northern California.

Taylor comes to SAG-AFTRA from Actors’ Equity Association, where he served as the assistant executive director/Central Regional director. He brings with him a wealth of experience in union service, having worked at AFTRA, and then SAG-AFTRA, from 2004 to 2013.

“Sean has a proven track record of fighting for our members and I know the San Francisco-Northern California Local will be in good hands,” said David White, national executive director of SAG-AFTRA. “We are delighted to have someone with his background and expertise back on board.”

Taylor begins in his new role today and reports to SAG-AFTRA Associate National Executive Director Mathis Dunn. He replaces Leonard Egert, who left in July to become National Executive Director of the American Guild of Musical Artists.

“I am impressed with the work Sean has done for performers at AEA, as well as with his background in broadcast negotiation. We look forward to working with him and drawing on his depth of knowledge and experience with the issues our members face,” said San Francisco-Northern California Local President Kathryn Howell. “We are fortunate to have found a new executive director who can hit the ground running.”

Taylor holds a Juris Doctorate from Chicago’s John Marshall School of Law and comes to SAG-AFTRA with extensive experience negotiating contracts.
