SAG-AFTRA Clarifies Stance On Gabrielle Union and Lisa Vidal Settlement

LOS ANGELES (January 6, 2017) – SAG-AFTRA has learned that Gabrielle Union and Lisa Vidal have settled their civil suit against BET and Breakdown Productions, which are subsidiaries of Viacom. The union is pleased that their case has been resolved amicably, but reaffirms that it still has a pending grievance in connection with the production of Being Mary Jane.

SAG-AFTRA is concerned about the misuse of the option-pickup process and episode order format of Being Mary Jane, which denies some members of the cast salary increases they are entitled to under the SAG-AFTRA collective bargaining agreement. This is an industry-wide problem that SAG-AFTRA is working vigorously to address.
