Thursday, Oct. 18 – Los Angeles, New York and Boston
What: The National Healthcare SafteyNet and the National Women’s Committees of SAG-AFTRA and the SAG Foundation will be holding the first national WELL WOMAN Live Stream Panel Discussion and Health Expo on Thursday, October 18 at the SAG Foundation Actors Center. SAG-AFTRA members can attend the panel discussion in person and the live stream is viewable at either SAGFoundation.org or SAGAFTRA.org. Members can also attend several viewing parties: in New York at the SAG-AFTRA offices at 260 Madison; and in Boston at the SAG-AFTRA offices located on Park Plaza.
The live stream panel discussion takes place in Los Angeles and is intended to help educate, inform and inspire women across the entertainment industry to take control of their own health and to spread the word on the importance of women’s health at every stage of life.
Following the live stream, more than 20 health-related vendors will participate in the Health Expo in Los Angeles with additional services including free mammograms and medical referrals for members..
Concurrently in New York, a number of vendors will also offer free information and services.
Who: Los Angeles panel discussion is moderated by Star Jones (The View), survivor of open heart surgery and American Heart Association’s National Volunteer. The panel features actor and breast cancer survivor Richard Roundtree (Heroes, Shaft), Dr. Kristi Funk, breast surgeon and founder of the Pink Lotus Breast Center, Dr. Chrisandra Shufelt, Associate Director of the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center and Director of Cedars-Sinai’s Women’s Hormone and Menopause Program, Dr. Dennis Holmes, Director of the Los Angeles Women’s Health Center and internationally renowned breast surgeon, Naz Sykes, Executive Director of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, and panel moderator Star Jones (The View), survivor of open heart surgery and American Heart Association’s National Volunteer).
