Longtime member and actor Kathy Bates receives top honor from the International Cinematographers Guild.

SAG-AFTRA national and Los Angeles Local leadership were among those in attendance at the 62nd Annual ICG Publicists Awards luncheon on March 8 in Los Angeles. Hosted by the Publicists of the International Cinematographers Guild IATSE Local 600, the event was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

SAG-AFTRA officials included Secretary-Treasurer Joely Fisher, Local Board members Caitlin Dulany and Jenny O’Hara, and local member Kevin E. West. Also present were SAG Awards® Executive Producer Jon Brockett, Supervising Producer & Senior Director Jen Coyne-Hoerle and Head of Publicity Nic Vivas.

Veteran actor and SAG-AFTRA member Kathy Bates received the Television Showperson of the Year Award, a top honor for individuals whose accomplishments in television “best represent that special spirit traditionally defined as showmanship.” Bates is well known for her work in both film and television, including several seasons of the American Horror Story franchise. Her most recent roles on CBS’s Matlock and The Great Lilian Hall earned her two SAG Awards nominations in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series categories, respectively.

The Screen Actor Guild Awards publicity strategic consultant Ngoc Nguyen also received the Bob Yeager Award for Community Service. The honor recognizes a member of International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 who “distinguishes themselves in fields outside of their particular profession in pursuit of the betterment of society.” In addition to her work for the SAG Awards, Nguyen has led strategic efforts for TIME’S UP, Women Rising, Harness, Communities in Schools and Children’s Defense Fund, and produced films on anti-bullying, sexual assault prevention and underrepresented women in production and girls in STEAM fields. Brockett and Vivas were the award presenters.

Other award recipients included the publicity teams for Wicked and Agatha All Along.

In his keynote speech, IATSE National Executive Director Alex Tonisson encouraged attendees to support the Keep California Rolling campaign, a labor-led movement to expand California’s Film Tax Credit Program.

A full list of award recipients is available on ICG’s website.

The ICG IATSE Local 600 represents 100,000 cinematographers working in film, television, streaming, broadcast and several other industries. The inaugural Publicists Awards Luncheon, held in 1964, has grown to be an event attended by over 800 publicists, press, motion picture and television leaders, and other unions, including SAG-AFTRA.
