Union members picket at Orchestra Hall on March 12.

SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local members stand in solidarity with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and its union, the Chicago Federation of Musicians, in its strike against the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association. The Orchestra is asking for better wages and contract terms that include a guarantee that their retirement benefits will continue. The orchestra went on strike March 11, after more than 11 months of negotiations with the Association.

The Orchestra is one of the city’s most treasured gems, having been a Chicago institution for 128 years.
