MIAMI (Sept. 10, 2015) – The SAG-AFTRA Miami Local has moved! After conducting a detailed review of members in the area, the SAG-AFTRA office in south Florida has just moved closer to the base of its membership. The new office, located in Doral, provides architectural and technological advancements in a location convenient to transportation — from the Palmetto Expressway to Miami International Airport.
This move places SAG-AFTRA directly in the median point of a density map of membership, which revealed a high concentration of members in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami Beach and Central Miami. SAG-AFTRA’s new location is in a developing entertainment complex in the epicenter of Spanish-language media.
Built in 2010, the 4,000-square-foot raw space was completely transformed by building owner New Boston Shoma Park Square LLC at no cost to SAG-AFTRA. Following three months of negotiation and design, three months of construction was overseen by property and project manager Stiles Property Management. SAG-AFTRA worked in collaboration with AREA Architecture, general contractor Itasca Construction and New Boston Shoma Park Square LLC architect G. Alvarez Studio to create the new office. Interior systems furniture and seating were provided by Unisource Furniture, with conference room chairs by Jules Seltzer Furniture installed by local furniture installer JC White Furniture. The office will feature interior super-graphics by Phoenix Painting Company and SAG-AFTRA logo signage by Designer Sign Systems.
Designed to replicate the modern, open floor plan workstations in the SAG-AFTRA New York Local, the new SAG-AFTRA Miami offices have three closed-door offices with the majority of staff sharing open areas divided by glass.
The new SAG-AFTRA Miami Local office features include:
- A 16-seat glass boardroom with upgraded AV and extensive views of the area.
- Actors Center/Member Lounge for demo and on-camera audition recording built to reduce sound.
- A private membership room where members and new members can review information and join SAG-AFTRA in a confidential space.
- Complimentary valet parking and free parking for members, staff and guests.
- Additional meeting space in the building.
The Miami Local Office grand opening will take place on Sept. 9 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. ET and will include office tours followed by a ribbon-cutting, champagne toast and first-floor restaurant reception.
