Los Angeles (Oct. 1, 2013) – The SAG-AFTRA National Board of Directors met Monday and Tuesday and reviewed several administrative, finance and governance matters, including setting a start date for Wages and Working Conditions meetings for the upcoming SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical contracts negotiations.

This was the first meeting of the first-elected National Board of SAG-AFTRA, which followed the union's four-day convention in Los Angeles.

The National Board received reports including:

Secretary-Treasurer’s Report
The board received a confidential report by Secretary-Treasurer Amy Aquino on the first quarter 2013 financials. Aquino told the board that the first quarter results are on plan and tracking to a balanced budget.

National Executive Director’s Report
National Executive Director David White provided an operations overview to the newly completed board including an introduction to executive staff leadership and information on the union’s functional areas. White outlined the union’s strategic initiatives, institutional focus and core functions on contract related activities, administration and support.

White also led the board in a rousing recognition of the SAG-AFTRA staff team’s extraordinary efforts in planning and implementing the union’s successful first national convention that just concluded on Sunday, Sept. 29.  White’s accolades were accompanied by a photo slideshow and long rounds of standing applause by board members in appreciation of the assembled staff team.

“The first SAG-AFTRA Convention is under our belt and I am so proud of reaching this milestone in our union’s history,” White said. “Our members and staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make this convention successful. This includes our Los Angeles member ambassadors who volunteered their time to assist their fellow SAG-AFTRA member delegates with anything they needed while visiting our city.

“With the convention’s conclusion, we have set the course for the union for the next two years,” he added. “We have a lot of work to do, but I have great confidence in this new and energized national board to get it done.”
