SAG-AFTRA is heading to Broadway!

On Friday, Dec. 20, the union’s two separate Madison Avenue offices will shut its doors for good and reopen Jan. 6 at One Lincoln Plaza, 1900 Broadway. This new space, across from Lincoln Center, will unite staff, who have been working in two locations since the March 2012 merger. Members, who have shuffled between the 260 and 360 Madison Avenue locations will now have one convenient location to conduct all their union business.

“Merger brought SAG-AFTRA together, and this beautiful new office space brings all of our operations and member services under one roof,” said New York Local President Mike Hodge. “With this move accomplished, I look forward to providing members of the union’s second largest local with a world-class space for future events, programs and services, surrounded by arts organizations in the heart of Manhattan.”

Following the current offices closures on Dec. 20, staff in New York will be unavailable in person or by phone until the new office opens. The national office in Los Angeles is available throughout this time for member needs. Members with on-set emergencies can still use the New York emergency hotline number through this time period.

Jae Je Simmons, Executive Director of the New York Local said, “I am so excited that all New York staff will soon be under one roof. This new office space will allow us to truly work as a team to enhance services for all local members.”

Designed by the firm of AREA Architecture, the SAG-AFTRA New York Local is built to reflect the values of the organization, promoting collaboration and communication among staff and members, while incorporating functional elements for optimal productivity and comfort.

On Monday, the New York Local launched a website regarding the new location, including important information on the location, how to get there and highlights of the new space. The website can be viewed at http://www.sagaftra.org/ny/1900broadway .

This new, state of the art facility, combined with the creative and cultural vibe of the neighborhood and the proven dedication of our membership, looks to make the New York Local a vital force in media and labor for years to come.
