SAG-AFTRA strike captains from coast to coast reflect on their work during the TV/Theatrical/Streaming Strike.

This fight is about whether or not there will be a business for the next generation. I'm out for the [performers] coming after me; that’s my responsibility for the next generation. It's not really a sacrifice in my mind. I think it's an investment: I'm investing in this union, I'm investing in this contract and in these people. And, when I think of the things that I've gained, as opposed to things that I've lost, that, to me, is amazing.

Sue Berch

SAG-AFTRA Member & Strike Captain

Keeping the picket line moving can seem like a difficult task, but for the SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical/Streaming Strike, it’s been possible through the important work of SAG-AFTRA strike captains. For over 113 days, captains helped keep their fellow members energized and instep, and it is with their tireless direction and dedication that the daily pickets and special events are run efficiently, smoothly and safely.

In this episode, we talk to our volunteer captains in Los Angeles and New York and hear their thoughts about the invaluable services they’ve provided. Interviewees Demetri Belardinelli, Sue Berch, Brendan Bradley, Olivia Killingsworth, Marc Baron, Kate Comer, Mary M. Flynn and Iris Liu share with us their thoughts about what they do, what they’ve seen on the line and what they’ve learned about the union, and themselves, during these intense days.

Episode introduction by SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.
