I am rooting for every actor I see … I am advocating and working on your behalf, and [whether] you self‐tape or [are] coming in person or on Zoom, I want you to get this job
as much as you want to get the job.

Kim Williams

Disney Television Studios Vice President of Casting

Younger performers are at a different stage of their careers than their more experienced counterparts, but their experiences are by no means less difficult. In addition to finding a balance between their work and everyday life, performers ages 18 and younger face the challenge of landing roles that better fit them as adolescents.

For younger performers working in the industry, this SAG-AFTRA podcast episode serves as an ideal starting point. With a brief introduction by SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the episode leads into a rebroadcast of the panel Audition Tips for Parents and Young Performers. The panel, which first aired in January 2021, features a noted panel of casting directors from the Casting Society of America, including CSA President and Disney Television Studios Vice President of Casting Kim Williams, and CSA members Suzanne Goddard-Smythe, Krisha Bullock and Howard Meltzer. Monika Mikkelsen serves as moderator.

Together, the group addresses a wide range of topics, including auditioning and landing roles, rebranding and finding a good work-life balance.
