People really have turned to entertainment to help them through a year where they can’t go to movie theaters, big concerts or restaurants. And I think this year’s ceremony may mean so much more to the viewing public because these [shows and movie characters] have been their friends.

JoBeth Williams

SAG Awards Committee Chair

It goes without saying that the past year has seen significant changes to the production of films and television, and the same can also be said for the 2021 award season. The Screen Actors Guild Awards has felt the same industry shifts, yet what remained steadfast was the dedication of its committee and staff to recognizing the year’s most captivating performances in film, television and stunts. And, this year promises to be the greatest yet.

In this special podcast episode, SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams and Executive Producer, SAG Awards & National Programming Kathy Connell reflect on the impact of the SAG Awards over the last 27 years and the significance of this year’s ceremony. Learn about how the awards began and what happens behind the scenes; some of Williams’ and Connell’s favorite on- and off-camera moments; and what viewers can expect on Sunday, April 4. Hosted by SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White.
