There’s no doubt that Netflix has fundamentally changed the way we access and consume television and movie content. As the company has evolved from a DVD rental service to an online streaming platform with its own original content, performers have experienced significant and impactful changes to the way they land certain roles and are compensated for their work.

SAG-AFTRA’s agreement with Netflix, the first of its kind between the union and a global streaming service, reflects the union’s commitment to addressing the challenges performers face with the proliferation of streaming services.  In this episode, SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris is joined by Chief Contracts Officer Ray Rodriguez for a behind-the-scenes look at how the new agreement sets an important precedent as traditional studios begin to create their own streaming platforms.
