This year’s theme was ‘Unconventional’ which I thought was so perfect because when you think about our industry and how so many things are rapidly changing … we need to be unconventional if we are going to continue to thrive.

The biennial SAG-AFTRA National Convention is an undeniably important event for the union. Hundreds of delegates from the union’s talented membership gather for one important task: charting the union’s future. This not only includes electing delegates and the consideration of important amendments and resolutions, but identifying the union’s stance regarding the challenges creative professionals experience as the entertainment industry continues to redefine and restructure itself.
In honor of SAG-AFTRA’s fourth convention, themed “#Unconventional,” President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White re-cap the 2019 National Convention. Throughout the episode, the pair talk about their favorite moments—from elections, to the ever-popular convention gala and all the moments in between—and how the resolutions and amendments from the three-day event helps the union take its next steps towards the future.
