You’re not going to stop technology. The question is, are you going to be at the table?

The fifth Labor Innovation & Technology Summit took place in Las Vegas on Jan. 9–10. Hosted by SAG-AFTRA in partnership with UNITE HERE and the American Federation of Teachers, the summit brought together industry and labor leaders from across several industries to discuss the future of labor.
In honor of Labor Day 2024, we revisit the CES panel Workers Rights in the Age of Tech. Moderated by AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, the conversation between the panelists, SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Linda Powell, UNITE HERE President D. Taylor and AFT President Randi Weingarten, brought attention to technology as a workers’ rights issue. Throughout the panel, the group carefully considered technology’s impact on workers, the growing role unions must play in helping laborers navigate the shifts within their industries, and the importance of workers having a seat at the table.
Introduction by SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.
