Self-taping is not going anywhere. It is going to be part of the new normal … [and] as leaders, it’s our job to assure our members that they are being heard.

Ezra Knight

SAG-AFTRA Vice President, New York and New York Local President

Although self-taped auditions have become an industrywide standard in the past few years, there is still much the union is learning about the firsthand experiences of our members. To gain much-needed, direct insight from our active membership, SAG-AFTRA conducted a self-tape survey during the summer. We later reported our findings in the President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement panel, Spotlight on Self-Tapes II, on Sept. 1, which can be heard on this podcast.

SAG-AFTRA Vice President, New York and New York Local President Ezra Knight, Chief Contracts Officer Ray Rodriguez, Chief Economist David Viviano, and National Director, Commercials Contracts Claudette Singh join SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Ben Whitehair to highlight members’ feedback regarding self-taping, as well as common self-taping issues. Listen to learn more about how the union’s initiatives can help you feel more empowered — even before you press “record.”

Episode introduction by Whitehair and SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.
